Multi-Field Funding Opportunities

To encourage broadly interdisciplinary research, joint funding is now available. Eligible proposals are those that focus on an interdisciplinary research theme that is relevant to more than one field. Current UC Discovery Grant fields that offer multi-field funding are:

• Biotechnology
• Communications and Networking
• Digital Media
• Information Technology for Life Sciences
• Electronics Manufacturing and New Materials

Applicants for multi-field funding will be able to select all appropriate fields for their proposal using the current online proposal system. For a multi-field proposal, select the field that most closely matches the primary emphasis of the proposed research, submit to the online system for that field, and indicate other relevant fields where requested.

A multi-field proposal will then be reviewed simultaneously and considered for joint funding by the fields that approve it.
