Sanjit K. Mitra, professor, department of electrical and computer engineering, University of California, Santa Barbara. For contributions to signal and image processing, for research supervision, and for writing pioneering textbooks.

Eugene W. Myers, professor, department of electrical engineering and computer science, University of California, Berkeley. For pioneering research and leadership in the development of computational methods of genome sequencing and assembly.
