Feb 1: San Francisco: Scientist to CEO Speaker Series: Medical Devices: The Process of Invention and Innovation. The speaker will be Thomas J. Fogarty, M.D. who is the inventor of the Fogarty balloon catheter. He is currently a professor of surgery at Stanford University. The event will begin at 5:00 p.m. at UCSF, Parnassus Campus.

Feb 1: Berkeley: Global Social Venture Competition Business Plans Due. The Competition is a partnership between the Haas School of Business, the Columbia School of Business, the London School of Business and The Goldman Sachs Foundation.

Feb 10: Berkeley: CITRIS Open House. Informational posters, demonstrations, and complimentary box lunches will be available in the Atrium of the newly renovated Hearst Memorial Mining Building . Tele-Immersion is an emerging technology which enables cooperative interaction between people and groups separated geographically while placing them in the same virtual environment. Demonstrations of Tele-Immersion will be taking place from 1p.m. to 3p.m. in The Tele-Immersion Lab (Room 475).

Feb 17: Palo Alto: Software Development Forum: Distinguished Speaker Series: Python: Building an Open Source Project and Communit. The speaker will be Guido van Rossum, Creator of Python. Python is one of the three "P-languages" which enjoy massive popularity among developers as part of the open source LAMP platform (Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP/Perl/Python).
